Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
What is Reflexology
Reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure to different reflex points on the feet or hands, in order to bring about a state of deep calm and relaxation and promote a sense of balance and well-being.
Reflexology is a holistic hands-on therapy; it works to relieve the stresses and worries of everyday life and supports and stimulates the body’s own healing and rejuvenating processes.
How does it work?
Reflexology is based on the ancient principle that different reflex areas in the feet and hands are connected to different parts of the bodies muscular, skeletal and internal organs and that the bodies entire nervous system tends to adjust to outside factors, including touch.
A reflexologists touch may help calm the central nervous system, promoting relaxation and other benefits. Reflexology can help support the functioning of different systems and organs of the body, that we cannot reach directly.
Research has shown that reflexology is remarkably effective in relation to relieving stress, encouraging deep relaxation which calms the nervous system. In working to support the immune system to optimize the body’s own defense against coughs and colds. What happens when I go for a treatment?
On your first visit I will complete a full personal consultation, this will include your past and present health and lifestyle. All of this will be discussed in more detail at the initial appointment.
The treatment will last for approximately an hour, as it is the feet that are generally treated you simply remove your socks and shoes, and lie on a treatment couch for added comfort. I will then use my hands to apply precise pressure techniques that correspond to all organs and systems of the body.
Any findings will be discussed at the end of the treatment.
